Cross Palms is a student loft that aims to bond design students of all courses together.
The name Cross Palms also has a meaning ''to bond'' as the action of crossing palms (hand) shows an interaction. It is also taken from my inspiration - palm trees.
I used the view of the site to get inspirations. I decided to study the palm tree as it is the first thing that attracted me.
The fronds of the palm tree are made up of a long stem that connects many leaves together which gives off a radiating feel.
Concept
I decided to use the intepretation I got from the fronds. I designed a common area that radiates out to several smaller spaces which are DSC room, an activity space, a lounge and a work area.
A lane connecting to the stairs is created and used to radiate people to different spaces.

Temasek Polytechnic, School of Design, Singapore.
